Bank Fly Fishing For Reservoir Trout - A New Dawn - Part One

Pitsford Holly Tree Bank 05:00am DawnBank Fly Fishing For Reservoir Trout - A New Dawn - Part One. It can be argued that reservoir bank fly fishing for trout has long since reached a peak and has sadly been in a steady decline in terms of the numbers of bank anglers taking part for many years.

Trout Personal Bests

Submitted by Steve Crowder on Wed, 01/09/2010 - 19:57

Personal Best Rainbow Trout From Pitsford I thought I would record the various personal best trout I have managed to catch over the years at Anglian Waters four trout fishing reservoirs. I have managed to catch many brownies and rainbows in the 3lb 0oz - 3lb 12oz class which are not really recorded here. I recently found out the the set of scales I use underweight by around 4 to 5 ounces...

Those tiny Olive Larvae are back again at Pitsford

Submitted by Steve Crowder on Tue, 08/06/2010 - 21:01

3lb 8oz Green Larvae Feeding Rainbow Trout Olive Larvae: Curse, plague or blessing?

Those tiny (1cm long) pale washed out olive larvae are back again in profusion at Pitsford this summer. Last year (2009) they were widespread throughout the summer at Pitsford in the Main Basin area. They managed to cause a lot of frustration to some anglers as the trout went feeding hard on them, often exclusively so, and sometimes became very difficult to catch!

Pitsford Personal Best Rainbow Trout

Submitted by Steve Crowder on Mon, 31/05/2010 - 09:57

Personal Best Rainbow Trout From PitsfordA very windswept Sunday May 30th 2010 saw me on the bank in one of my favourite spots at Pitsford Water struggling to get a decent line out due to the strongly gusting wind. The gale force wind prompted me to shuffle around within the bay I was fishing seeking shelter and also a change of tactics to try and deal with the unrelenting wind.

Oafs in Boats

3 Oafs In A BoatSometimes known as "Thatcher's Children" or "Me Me's" these individuals think only of themselves and exhibit zero thought or consideration for anyone else. You are dead to them within their own narrow little existence.

Tactics For Catching Trout In An Early Season Flat Calm

Submitted by Steve Crowder on Sun, 18/04/2010 - 19:32

Hot Sun During the early season, if you are a regular visitor to the oggin, you will inevitably experience the worst trout fishing conditions associated with a high pressure weather system, namely a flat calm combined with bright sun in a cloud less blue sky.
